WOMEN IN IOS ENGINEERING

You're invited to a tour of Facebook's open sourced UI Frameworks

Please join us on Thursday, September 17 at 6:00 pm for our WEmpk's September meetup in Building 10. It will be another evening of networking with other women in iOS engineering from the Bay tech community  and our own iOS engineers. Food and drinks will be provided.

Facebook has open sourced a variety of UI frameworks. Why isn't UIKit good enough? How many times do we need to reinvent the wheel? Madelaine Boyd will discuss the genesis of AsyncDisplayKit, React Native, and ComponentKit, how they're applied, the motivations for each, and which might be applicable for your needs.

Madelaine Boyd has worked at Facebook for the past three years. She has worked on Events (PHP and iOS), Paper, and main app startup performance. Currently, she works on common mobile infrastructure. Prior to Facebook, she graduated summa cum laude from Harvard College with a Bachelor degree in Computer Science.

Our own iOS engineers, Hiedi Utley, Lu Chen, and Li Zhan will then join Madelaine to wrap up the evening with a Q&A session.

Food and drinks will be served. We look forward to seeing you there!

Mike Zoppo is a host of exceptional ability. Studies show that a vast majority of guests attending events by Mike have been known to leave more elated than visitors to Santa's Workshop, The Lost of Continent of Atlantis, and the Fountain of Youth.
